Quality Serviced Office Spaces in Edinburgh - Strathmore - Our Top Picks for a Quick Week Day Lunch in Edinburgh

Most of us bring, or at least try to bring, lunch to work every day but sometimes you just don’t have time, can’t face lunch prep or run out of the dreaded Tupperware. Does anyone else’s office have a cupboard full of unclaimed Tupperware?

To help, we have put together our top week day lunch spots for those days where you need to grab a quick bite, feel like something a little different or just want to escape the office for an hour;

Embo Deli

A firm favourite with the staff at Strathmore HQ.

Embo has a great selection of rolls, wraps, salads and fresh soup every day. You can choose from the menu or go off-piste and create your own. Their little seating area outside gets the sun all afternoon too so it’s a great little spot for some time out of the office.

We recommend …
The falafel wrap (with halloumi)

Where is it?
29 Haddington Place, Leith Walk – just a 3 minute walk from Strathmore’s Hopetoun Gate centre on McDonald Road.

El Cartel

The best Mexican in Edinburgh (according to us).

You can’t take away from El Cartel but their service is so quick you can be in and out within an hour. It’s just a small menu and it’s all about tacos, tacos, tacos … and the guac.

We recommend …
Whatever is on special or the Carne Asada.

Where is it?
64 Thistle Street – just a 3 minute walk from our office centre at 91 George Street.

The Square

Right in the centre of town.

With freshly made soups every day and lots sandwich, wrap and salad combinations to choose from The Square is always a popular choice for those working near St Andrew Square. It’s also very difficult to leave without picking up a sweet treat.

We recommend …
The chilli chicken salad box or the soup of the day if the weather’s feeling a bit miserable.

Where is it?
17 North St Andrew Street or 7 Dublin Street – just around the corner from our York Place centre and 4 minutes’ walk from our office centre at South St Andrew Street.

Bross Bagels

A new one but a good one.

New to Leith Walk anyway, this is Bross Bagel’s second store and it is so, so good! The bagels are packed full and it’s the type of place where you could try everything on the menu, twice.

We recommend …
The Big Apple (pastrami, Monterey jack cheese, dill pickle, dijonaise)

Where is it?
105 Leith Walk – a 10 to 15 minute walk from our Hopetoun Gate centre on McDonald Road so a little more further afield but worth it and the take away service is quick.
